Learning never stops
“They say learning never stops, and yet for too many it barely starts... millions of children and adolescents have no access to the vital information needed to make critical choices about their health and bodies, and many adults lack basic knowledge that could save their lives or the lives of their loved ones,” explains Kindness is Cool (KIC) founder Mikail Wushishi.
One of Mocoh’s longstanding social impact partners, Nigeria-based foundation Kindness is Cool has a core mission to better health awareness and access to education.
Launched in 2016 by Mikail and his brother, KIC is aiming to raise £25,000 ($30,000) for its 2023 community activities. The funds will be used to deliver targeted support at schools in marginalised communities in and around Lagos. These interventions will include classes on nutrition, first aid training and sexual health awareness.
Last year, KIC raised N10m ($16,000) in support of two local youth-orientated programmes: Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative (MANI) and Teach for Nigeria. It also launched a volunteer programme, which saw volunteer groups visit KIC-supported orphanages and participate in painting and pottery classes with the children.
